Who doesn't love them some older men? :iconlazyinviteplz:
Speed drawing for anatomy practice, you can see I'm desperately trying to grasp the concept of masculine features and the male anatomy in general.
Any helpful feedback, tips and constructive criticism would be deeply valued and appreciated, thank you so much! :iconawwloveplz:

Overall I think this is a pretty successful drawing in that you can tell he's a man. I'm not going to critique the anatomy necessarily, because you can find that in many books from people who know it much better than I do However, I can speak to the feminine elements versus the masculine elements.

His eyes look very feminine in comparison with the rest of his features. That's partly because of downward slant which others have mentioned, partly because of the thick eyelashes, and partly because of the delicate corners and roundedness of his upper eyelids. It seems like you tried to balance out this feminine quality with intense eyebrows, which worked to an extent. But part of the issue with the eyebrows is that it makes your face less realistic and less proportional.

The other feature you might consider adding some masculinity to next time would be the chin and jaw line. It has become rounded in this picture, and a more masculine jaw is typically squared.

One thing you could do to help your understanding of male anatomy would be to paint studies of male models (like from magazines, etc), because often they have very masculine traits. You can also draw a study of a woman and then one of a man and consider the differences. Good luck, looking great so far! Also, please ignore the star ratings, they don't mean anything for this critique haha
